Description

The 2024 Kookaburra silver coin is the thirty-fifth issue of one of the most popular bullion series, the Australian Kookaburra. Depicting an Australian kingfisher, the coin was struck in pure Ag.9999 bullion, weighing one ounce and measuring 40.9mm in diameter. Its issuer continues to be Australia’s oldest mint, the Perth Mint. Highlighting the Kookaburra’s unique design is its limited mintage of 500,000 pieces. Kookaburra is a series of silver coins produced since 1990. Initially (not counting the first issue, which was struck in only one weight – 1 ounce) the collection was struck in four different sizes: 1 kilogram, 10 ounces, 2 ounces, 1 ounce, while in 2010 the quantity was reduced to three sizes: 1 kilogram, 10 ounces and 1 ounce. It is also worth mentioning that the collection is distinguished by the fact that the design of the coins changes every year, which makes their value increase from year to year. All in all, the Kookaburra collection is ideal for anyone looking for new and interesting values for their portfolio.

The obverse of the coin depicts a portrait of King Charles III, designed by Daniel Thorne, as well as information about the face value of the coin and the issuing country. The Rewers shows a kookaburra in flight over a gorge with a snake in its claws and information about the weight, purity of the bullion, the year the coin was struck, as well as the letter ‘P’, which indicates that the Perth Mint is the producer of the coin. The designer was Sean Rogers.
